One of the earliest licenses that Colorforms picked up for their standard games was Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty. Taking full advantage of the recently released, popular Disney film, Colorforms released no less than three different sets in 1959. The production materials used to make all three sets are here, including those for a later set, as well. All are incredibly charming and very important to the company's early history. (Note: Each of the first three sets contains a unique 8" x 10" color photo transparency of the set's cover and interior). Contents for small set #150 (Sleeping Beauty Dress Designer Kit): original cover art (painted cut-out, mostly mech., 4" x 8-1/2"), vinyl art, platform art (ink and gray gouache, 4-1/2" x 9-1/4"), and bklt. art (painted cut-outs w/mech. additions - 15" x 4.5"); mech.'s for cover and bklt. (both w/tis. ov.); pos.'s for bklt; production example of the Sleeping Beauty figure; set of seven prog.'s for the cover; final proof for bklt.; and an EX sample game (missing platform). Contents for large set #2150 (Sleeping Beauty Dress-Up Kit - We believe this set was actually renamed with the same title as the smaller set, prior to release.): original cover art (large section of the two characters, mounted to the cover mech., with tis. ov.), platform art (ink and gray gouache, 9-1/2" x 13"), and bklt. art (painted die-cuts used as mech. with text stats); mech. for bklt. (w/tis. ov.); final cover proof; final platform proof (contains two platforms); positive and negative "blueprint" sheets; production example of Sleeping Beauty and the Prince figures; seven end panel mockups; and a VG/EX sample game (missing three tiny vinyl pieces). Contents for set #2151 (Sleeping Beauty Story Kit): original vinyl art, cover art (small art inset, 8" x 7" - mostly mech., w/tis. ov.), and bklt. art (painted cutouts w/mech. additions); full color platform mech.; bklt. mech. (w/tis. ov.); four color negatives for cover; 11 black and white, 8" x 10" studio wire photos (two have ad copy taped to the back - three are model sheets); and final proofs for cover and platform. Contents for set #530 (late 1960's Sleeping Beauty): original cover art (lam. col., 11-1/2" x 11", w/small originals of birds, done in W/C and ink and applied to a pl. trans.), platform art (lam. col., 17-1/2" x 12-1/2"), bklt. art (lam. col. of characters used in the bklt. mech., 11-1/4" x 5-3/4"), vinyl art (ink), ad concept art (pencils and monotone W/C, 8-1/2" x 11"), and logo art (inks on board and overlay, 7-1/2" x 5-1/4"); bklt. mech. (w/tis. ov. and ed. not.); cover and two ad mech.'s; sets of pos.'s for cover, platform and bklt.; and a NM sample game.
