Riding high on the popular strip's recent adaptation as a TV show, the Hall syndicate licensed the Dennis the Menace toy rights to Colorforms in 1961. Two sets were produced: Set #'s 123 (small set) and 2123 (large set). This offering includes the original Fred Hausman artworks and the mechanicals used to produce both sets. Included from the small set's production: finished cover art (14" x 11", ink, w/tis. ov.); full-size cover concept art (tis. ov.); two-dozen pencil or pencil/ink artworks for the vinyl, including the final mech.; blue-line reduction guide for the platform; proof for the platform (8 pcs.); and pos.'s for the bklt. (1), platform (1), and cover (3). The large set's components include: finished cover art (12" x 13", ink, w/tis. ov.); small cover concept art (5" x 6", crayon on tis.) and full-sized version w/tis. ov.; original bklt. art (w/mech. additions and tis. ov.); original platform art (13-1/4" x 9-1/4", ink. Used for both sets.); rejected platform art (13-1/2" x 9-1/2", ink); final proof for cover; and three different ad mech.'s. Also included are sample games for each, both MT contents in VG/EX boxes.
