Absolutely extraordinary image focus brings sharp relief to the bat brands of Louisville Slugger and Batrite, the tape-patterned bat handles, DiMaggio's textured grey-flannel uniform (with World's Fair "Trylon and Perisphere" sleeve patch), and the contours of his iconic visage. The contrast and clarity of this 7" x 9" photo truly could not be superior. Dated April 30, 1938, the Acme Newspictures caption on the reverse reads, "DI MAGGIO SCORES IN 1938 DEBUT - Up for the first time in the first inning of the Washington-New York American League Baseball Game here April 30, Joe Di Maggio cracked out a single. It was his 1938 debut on the diamond with the Yanks, after he ended his holdout siege. DiMaggio later scored from second in the same inning when Bill Dickey doubled. This photo shows Di Maggio selecting a bat for the first shot at the old apple." EX condition with two clipped corners, edge wear at center left, and slight rippling at bottom.
