An unusually well-preserved, 7" x 9" photo in EX/MT condition with negligible perimeter wear. Flag bunting gives pomp and circumstance to the Opening Day action scene. Dated April 13, 1928, a Wide World Photos caption on the reverse reads, "205,000 See Baseball Season Open in America...With a total of 205,000 persons looking on in eight different cities, the American baseball season officially got under way recently. Here we see a part of the 30,000 fans who turned out to witness the clash between the 'Giants' and 'Braves' at the Polo Grounds, N.Y." The McGrawmen captured a 5-2 victory. Encapsulated as Type I by PSA/DNA.
